Carreg Llwyd Church - Celebrating Forty Years
Carreg Llwyd Church - Celebrating Forty Years

isn't ageing a funny thing?

When you're young you cannot wait to grow up and when you're old you wish you were young again!

Someone once said you know you are old when:
  • everything hurts and what doesn't hurt doesn't work;
  • you keep repeating yourself;
  • you sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going;
  • your knees buckle, and your belt won't;
  • your back goes out more than you do;
  • you keep repeating yourself;
  • you sink your teeth into a steak, and they stay there;
  • you have too much room in the house and not enough in the medicine cabinet;
  • you know all the answers, but nobody asks you the questions;
  • people call at 9:00pm and ask, "Did I wake you?";
  • you have a party and the neighbours don't even realize it;
  • you keep repeating yourself!!!
We can of course be a lot more positive about getting older and that's what we at Carreg Llwyd Church are doing as we celebrate reaching the grand old age of FORTY!

the big 'four-oh'

The number 40 appears many times in the Bible. For example: Noah experienced 40 days of rain and the Israelites wandered for 40 years in the wilderness; Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days and also after his resurrection he appeared for 40 days proving that he was alive. The term "forty" is therefore identified with a time of testing or proving.

On June 13th 1964 the doors of the church building were opened and although both the building and congregation have changed over the years I hope that we have 'proved' to be faithful in our mission to present the love of God in a relevant and practical manner by offering spiritual and social support to the local community, town and overseas.

We want to publicly express our gratitude to God for all of His provision and encouragement during these last 40 years. It is our desire that we may continue to serve Him for many years to come and look forward to developing our partnership with the local community. Please feel free to call into the Church office during the week to discuss any way in which you feel we can work together more effectively, or send us an email to office@carregllwyd.co.uk
